Weather Observation Competition
Program Introduction
In celebration of Sik Sik Yuen’s 105th Anniversary and the 30th School Anniversary of the Ho Koon Nature Education cum Astronomical Centre (Sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen), this competition is held as one of the commemorative events. “Weather Observation Competition 2026 —— Microclimate and Citizens’ Lives” is co-organized by Ho Koon Nature Education cum Astronomical Centre (Sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen), Hong Kong Observatory, and in collaboration with the Hong Kong Meteorological Society and Community Weather Information Network. This competition is territory-wide competitions and in line with the “E-learning Ancillary Facilities Programme” of the Quality Education Fund and the “Geography E-learning Package about Climate Change, Version 2.0” project. The competition aims to echo with the HKDSE curriculum, to enhance students’ attention to the issues related to microclimate, citizens’ lives and climate change, while uplifting students’ students’ creativity and fieldwork skills through topical enquiry study.
Programme Objectives
- Enhance students’ knowledge and interest in weather and climate.
- Explore the relationship between microclimate and human activities.
- Strengthen students’ understanding of the impacts of climate change,
and increase their awareness and knowledge of the topic.
