DIY Automatic Weather Station Workshops
Program Introduction
The “DIY Automatic Weather Station” Workshop organized by Ho Koon Nature Education cum Astronomical Centre (Sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen), is part of the “Geography E-learning Package about Climate Change, Version 2.0” Project under the sponsorship of Quality Education Fund’s “E-learning Ancillary Facilities Program”. The workshop aims to provide students with the opportunity to assemble a “DIY Automatic Weather Station.” Through this workshop, students learn about electronic component assembly, programming, instrument installation, and use the miniature “Automatic Weather Station” to collect weather data in the field. They also study related concepts such as “microclimate” to enhance their awareness and understanding of climate change.
Objectives of Activity
- To enhance students’ knowledge and interest in STEM areas including electronic components, 3D printing and programming;
- To understand concepts related to “microclimate” through experimental fieldwork; and
To deepen students’ understanding of the impacts of climate change and increase their awareness and knowledge of climate change.
